Anti-Scalding Feature Available on Single-Control Colony Soft Bath Faucets from American Standard

(June 12, 2012) — Already known for clean, soft design lines and budget-conscious price tags, Colony® Soft single-control bathroom faucets from American Standard are now available with a hot limit safety stop. This easily adjustable security feature helps prevent accidental scalding by limiting the amount of hot water that flows through the faucet.

American Standard was one of the first manufacturers to introduce the hot limit safety stop. It is an essential attribute for safety in the home, especially those with small children, the elderly, or anyone with physical disabilities.

Previously offered only on luxury faucet collections, the hot limit safety stop is now available to consumers at an affordable price point. This feature works by restricting handle rotation to limit the amount of hot water allowed to mix with the cold water, reducing the risk of injury from excessively hot water. The hot limit safety stop is also a standard feature on Colony Soft pressure balance bath/shower valves.

Engineered for fast and easy installation, the Colony Soft collection of bathroom faucets incorporates the exclusive pre-assembled Speed Connect® drain with only four parts, instead of the 14 different parts used with conventional drains. This innovative system simplifies drain installation and never needs adjusting. The drain seals tightly so water stays in the sink, and the lift rod comes set to correct height and never works loose.

Colony Soft lavatory faucets incorporate pressure-compensating aerators that provide 32 percent water savings over standard models. They are WaterSense®-certified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), ensuring water savings without sacrificing performance.
