American Standard Garners 2012 Award for Design Excellence [ADEX]

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (June 1, 2012) — American Standard has been named a Gold Award winner for their FunBath in the Awards for Design Excellence (ADEX) competition, sponsored by Design Journal magazine.

In the last 17 years, ADEX has become the largest and most prestigious awards program for product design of furniture, fixtures and finishes marketed to the design trade.

“The 2011-12 ADEX Awards attracted upwards of 500 companies submitting more than 1,500 innovative new products,” said John Platter, executive director of ADEX. “The ADEX Award has recognized many outstanding product designs over the years, and American Standard’s FunBath has earned its place among that elite group.”

Until now, children’s baths were little more than no frills, poorly fitting plastic tubs made primarily for infants, leaving toddlers and preschoolers with frustrated parents wrestling and reaching in oversized tubs designed for adults.

All of the entries in each of the ADEX categories have potential for three award levels of platinum, gold or silver. Judges awarded points based on form, function, value, and fitness for particular purpose. Total points earned determined each winner’s award level. All Platinum, Gold and Silver level products will be published in the 2012 ADEX Winners Issue of Design Journal, the international trade publication for interior designers, architects and facility managers.
