American Standard Hosts “Thank You Toilet” Contest to Recognize World Toilet Day

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (November 5, 2014) ― American Standard Brands will host its second annual "Thank You Toilet" contest to celebrate World Toilet Day. One deserving organization or individual will win new new water-saving, high-performance toilets to replace outdated or inaccessible toilets.

Entrants are asked to nominate an organization or individual of their choice by submitting a photo and short essay about why their nominee is deserving of a new toilet. Entries should describe current facility conditions and how the recipient would benefit from new toilets. Post your photo and essay on Instagram, including the hashtag “#ThankYouToiletContest” and tag American Standard at “@American_Standard” in your caption to make it official. For those without an Instagram account, photos and captions can be emailed to thankyoutoilet@americanstandard.com.

The "Thank You Toilet" contest is a component of the LIXIL Group’s global "Thank You Toilet" project where its companies across the United States and Asia will bring sanitation to those that need it the most. It first launched in the U.S. last year, to celebrate the official designation of November 19th as World Toilet Day by the United Nations General Assembly. 

Nominees ranged from schools to homeless shelters to fire houses. The 2013 winner was Williamsburg Elementary School in Williamsburg, Ohio that was awarded ten new toilets and $2,000 toward their installation costs. American Standard donated additional toilets to the Family Bridge Homeless Shelter, Winfield Area Habitat for Humanity, URBAN-15 Group and the Natchez Festival of Music through the contest.
